Title: Project Officer (1)

Location: North Rift Region

The International Community of Women Living with HIV-Kenyan Chapter (ICW-Kenya) is a national network run by and for women living with and affected by HIV and AIDS in Kenya. The main objective is to champion the interests of women living with HIV in Kenya to improve their lives and ensure they realize human rights and dignity. This is done through focused advocacy processes at national and county levels and designing and implementing programs that directly target women living with HIV in capacity building, awareness creation, and increasing access to basic services including health care. The network also strives to empower women living with HIV to achieve economic stability and mitigate the impact of HIV on their livelihood.

The network seeks to employ a mature, committed and qualified Kenyan to support the implementation its health and capacity building programs within the North Rift Region. 

 

Primary Responsibilities of the officer:

  1. Implement project activities, generate project reports, and analysis of project activities.
  2. Support the preparation of the project expenditure budget and input towards the financial report.
  3. Oversee administrative duties within the project including data management.
  4. Work with the finance team to ensure strict financial compliance in project accountability.
  5. Develop strategic partnerships and collaboration with other local, county, and national advocacy organizations and coalitions to deliver common goals relating to areas of common interest.
  6. Represent the project/ICWK in meetings, forums, seminars, conferences, and related meetings locally, regionally and nationally and as necessary, including with policy makers in line with the project.
  7. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities, which may be assigned by the project leadership.
  8. Ensure all programme interventions are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
  9. Review, analyze, and report on previous and current data for the community actors.
  10. Use the data generated by the project to develop a strategy for elevating the youth programmes to a higher level.
  11. To create a close working relationship and develop a partnership with the MoH to gather information on HIV- Care, Prevention , Treatment and support, SGBV and STIs.
  12. Review, update, and share the framework and ensure the successful rollout and implementation of all design, monitoring, and evaluation for the project.
  13. Undertake Capacity Building for communities on M&E , including the Tools and a data gathering frameworks required for the project.
  14. Work closely with other staff in the organization and without in ensuring internal and external program reports demonstrate change by documenting and disseminating, lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, project management, Social work, education, communication, development studies, or equivalent
  • A minimum of a Diploma in Public health, project management, social work, Development studies, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of working experience implementing Health projects, experience working with HIV/TB interventions will be an added advantage
  • Certificate in Basic HIV course, counselling skills, HIV testing, Peer education or Community health strategy will be an added advantage.
  • Have experience managing community projects and working with diverse community stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of programme implementation, monitoring, and evaluation techniques and practices including proficiency in Microsoft Office. A certification in monitoring & evaluation will be an added advantage
  • Track record of ability to plan work and develop strategy for growth – must take a strategic approach to all work, everything must be planned to advance the level of impact of the project.
  • Experience in grant writing/reporting to funders. The individual must have experience in building relationships with funders and compiling formal reports.
  • Experience working on community projects. The individual must understand the potential problems associated with working in the community and have clear experience in successfully working in the community and/or with PLHIV
  • Leadership and Teamwork. Must be flexible and able to lead and work as part of an already established team.
  • Should be a person of high integrity and able to multi-task.
  • Experience in designing and managing beneficiary monitoring and database systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
